Protective & Stylish Label Finishes

Durable Finishes That Enhance & Protect

From everyday varnishes to high-performance laminates, our finishes ensure your labels don’t just look great — they last. Whether it’s gloss, matt, or specialist coatings, we match the right finish to your product’s environment for maximum protection and impact.

Gloss / Matt Varnish

Varnishes are clear coatings applied to printed labels to protect the surface, enhance appearance, and influence the overall look and feel of the packaging. The two most common types are gloss varnish and matt varnish - each offering unique aesthetic and functional benefits.

Gloss Varnish: Creates a shiny, reflective finish that intensifies colours, sharpens contrast, and gives labels a vibrant, polished look. It’s ideal for products that aim to catch the consumer’s eye and stand out on busy retail shelves.

Matt Varnish: Produces a soft, non-reflective finish that gives labels a muted, premium appearance. It reduces glare and provides a more tactile, natural feel, often associated with elegance and minimalism.

Sandpaper Varnish: Creates a rough/tactile varnish

Satin Varnish: A mix of gloss/matt, very smooth finish

Gloss / Matt Laminate

Lamination is a finishing process where a thin film is applied over the surface of a printed label. Unlike varnish, which is a liquid coating, laminate is a physical film layer that offers superior protection and alters the label’s visual and tactile qualities. The two most common types are gloss laminate and matt laminate, each offering distinct benefits depending on your product and brand aesthetic.

Gloss laminate: Gives labels a bright, reflective finish that boosts colour intensity and adds a sleek, polished look. It creates a smooth surface that not only enhances appearance but also provides excellent durability and moisture resistance.

Matt laminate: Delivers a non-reflective, smooth finish that gives labels a sophisticated, soft look. It softens colours slightly for a more subtle appearance and creates a velvety tactile feel, often associated with luxury and minimalism.

Key Benefits:

  • Amplifies colours and contrast for strong shelf appeal
  • Provides a smooth, high-gloss surface
  • Offers excellent resistance to water, oils, scuffs, and scratches
  • Gives labels a modern, premium feel

Premium Detailing for Maximum Impact

Special Effects That Elevate Your Labels

From foiling to embossing, our special effects add depth, texture, and sophistication to your labels. Whether it’s a luxurious metallic finish, a raised emboss for a tactile feel, or a standout spot varnish, we help your products command attention on the shelf.

Hot Foil

Hot foil stamping is a classic and highly effective finishing technique that applies metallic or pigmented foil to labels using heat & pressure. The result is a shiny, eye catching design element that instantly communicates quality, sophistication, and brand value.

Cold Foil

Unlike traditional hot foil stamping, cold foil is applied inline during the printing process. It gives your labels a luxurious, high-impact finish.

Embossing

A technique that will press a specific design into the labels and make them ‘stand out’ from a typical flat label surface. Commonly used on spirit labels, or high-end products.

Debossing

The opposite to embossing, this technique will press a design into the labels, and the design will be lower than the label surface.

Spot Varnish / Laminate

Spot varnish is a selective coating technique used to apply a clear, glossy (or matte) finish to specific areas of a label , creating contrast, depth, and a premium look without changing the overall design. It draws the eye to key elements like logos, brand names, helping products stand out both visually and tactically.

Smart Solutions for Complex Labeling

Peel & Reveal Labels for Multi-Layered Information

Peel & Reveal labels allow you to include essential information — from multilingual text to legal compliance, ingredients, and instructions — without sacrificing design or space. Ideal for food, cosmetics, and chemical products, these multi-page labels keep your packaging clean while delivering everything your customers need.

How They Work:

The label features two or more layers bonded together — the top layer is partially or fully removable by the consumer, unveiling a secondary printed surface beneath. This second “reveal” layer can include anything from hidden branding, detailed product info, recipes, promotional codes, or QR codes.

Commonly used in:

  • Food & Beverage – recipes, serving suggestions, or nutrition facts hidden under the peel

Reliable Labels for Thermal & Inkjet Printing

Thermal Labels Designed for Precision Printing

Thermal transfer labels are a popular and reliable labelling solution that uses a thermal print head to transfer ink from a ribbon onto the label material. This process produces crisp, sharp, and highly durable images and text, making thermal transfer labels ideal for applications where longevity and resistance are essential.

How Thermal Transfer Printing Works:

A heated print head melts ink from a ribbon onto the surface of the label stock. Unlike direct thermal printing, which uses heat-sensitive paper, thermal transfer printing deposits the ink physically, resulting in durable, smudge-resistant prints that withstand harsh conditions.

Thermal direct labels use a heat-sensitive coating on the label material that darkens when passed under a thermal print head. This process requires no ink, toner, or ribbon, making it an efficient and economical choice for printing labels with a shorter lifespan.

How Thermal Direct Printing Works:
The print head heats specific areas of the specially coated label paper, causing the surface to react and produce an image. Because the image is created directly on the label without any additional materials, thermal direct printing is fast and clean.

Inkjet labels are created by spraying tiny droplets of ink directly onto the label surface, allowing for full colour, high-resolution printing with photographic-quality images. This printing method is highly versatile, making it ideal for producing detailed, colourful, and variable designs.

How Inkjet Printing Works:
Inkjet printers propel ink droplets onto a variety of substrates, ranging from coated papers to synthetic films. The precision of droplet placement enables sharp images, gradients, and complex colour blends that are difficult to achieve with other printing methods.
