Non-Synthetic Options:
Semi-Gloss Paper
Semi-Gloss paper is known as a good standard material and used for dry ingredients/environment.
Suitable for:
- Dried food
- Fridge items with short dates (Jam/Chutney)
- Paper based products
- Outer Packaging
Not suitable for:
– Oil Based Products
– Bathroom Products
– Cleaning Products
– Corrosive materials – chemicals/essential oils
Gloss White PP
Gloss White Polypropylene is most of a durable material and can withstand a bit more than semi-gloss paper.
Suitable for:
- Fridge Items – Drinks
- Cosmetics
- Chemicals
- Cleaning Products
- Bathroom Products
- Oil Based
Not suitable for:
- Gloss white PP wouldn’t be suitable for a customer looking for biodegradability. This substrate would suit many applications and wouldn’t not work for a lot of things.
- If your customer is wanting to write on their label, check what kind of pen they would be using as a biro is usually okay, but a marker pen on GWPP will most likely rub off.
Gloss Clear PP
Gloss Clear Polypropylene is the same as GWPP, but the material itself is clear – all the above is the same except for one thing:
When you come to print on Gloss Clear – ensure that you have a white layer behind your artwork to make sure the colours are not wishy washy.
Bright Silver PP
Bright Silver PP is a similar substrate to Gloss white PP – the face stock is silver, and can be printed on to make colours metallic. This can also be used for an alternative for foiling to save on foil plates if the design changes a lot.

We can do speciality papers which usually offer a texture or effect of some sort to enrich the look of the label.
Common papers we might come across:
– Tintoretto
– Laid 90
– Tintoretto Gesso
There are hundreds of speciality paper, and we work closely with suppliers who have contracts with the raw material suppliers ie. Fasson & Mantor. If we cannot fully match the customers’ needs, we would usually be able to offer an alternative.
We do not usually recommend using printing effects eg. Foiling – on an unvarnished/finished speciality paper, as they do not lay down well or flat, and can cause the foil to fail.
