As 2019 gets up and running, we wanted to share how your support for our #TogetherAtChristmas campaign is already having a positive impact on people suffering hardship in our local community.
Spreading Christmas spirit
Traditionally a time when family and friends get together, there are many people for whom good food and company were not on the menu this Christmas. As a business with solid links to our local community, we decided to try to change that and raise awareness for those living in hardship with our #TogetherAtChristmas campaign.
Hamper highlights
As part of the campaign, and with the help and generosity of many of our bespoke labels customers, we created a luxury hamper and pledged to donate its value to local charitable causes.
The hamper, which included a delicious collection of artisan cheeses, crackers, wine, brandy, mineral waters, coffees, candles, chocolates, biscuits and speciality honey, was promoted for 12 days in a prize draw to our Facebook followers who were given a chance to win the hamper in return for helping us spread the ‘#TogetherAtChristmas’ message as far and wide as possible.
The lucky winner of the luxury hamper was Jules Eley who said “I’m absolutely over the moon – you really have made my Christmas!”
Supporting local projects
The people of Buxton were able to volunteer at a special Christmas Café project which sees two cafes in Buxton open their doors on Christmas Day to anybody who can’t afford a festive meal or doesn’t have family or friends to spend it with.
A truly special day
On Christmas day, our MD Maxine Chuwen along with an army of volunteers helped the Source and The Tradesmans cafés in Buxton serve over 70 sit down dinners and more than 15 take outs. And as the value of the items in the luxury hamper had added up to an incredible £700, we were delighted to make the day even more special with two cheques for £350 for Bright Opportunities (http://brightopportunities.org.uk/ and The Thomas Theyer Foundation https://thomastheyerfoundation.org.uk/) – the project’s chosen charities.
Thank you
Maxine would like to thank everyone involved in spreading a bit of Christmas cheer:
“It’s been such a heart-warming experience bringing together our business, social and local community. The response from our customers and the enthusiasm was beyond all our expectations.
